How to Edit Icons, Fonts, and Backgrounds of Your Realme Mobile

As we said, the mobile phones of the subsidiary brand of OPPO have earned a niche in the market of users looking for mid-range mobiles with good features. In fact, Realme is a direct competitor of Xiaomi in quality/price, another of the great manufacturers that have burst into our country with force.

UI 2.0 offers us many new customization features, sharing some features with Color OS, the OPPO cape. In addition, the new Realme menu will progressively reach all its models, and we can see it in a calendar that the brand launched a few days ago.

Imitating OPPO and OnePlus

The new Realme customization menu has undergone a major facelift compared to its previous version, although not so much. And if we look closely, this menu has a great resemblance to operating systems ColorOS from OPPO and OxygenOS from OnePlus. The distribution and appearance of the elements that we can customize coincide in many cases with these other brands. It is not that they are copying each other far from it, but there is an answer that perhaps not everyone knows.

For those more confused, the three brands that we have mentioned and Vivo are part of the company BBK Electronics, a Chinese multinational dedicated to the electronics industry. Hence, operating systems are very similar to each other. In fact, on occasion, we have seen that some terminals of a manufacturer have been launched under another name, with characteristics and design very similar to mobile phones from other brands of the company, such as the OnePlus 5 and the OPPO R11.

A new menu that brings together all the customization options

UI 2.0 has incorporated a new section in the settings of their phones called Customizations. To access it, you must go to your phone’s Settings, and you will find it with the same name. Basically, it brings together all the available customization options, something that was not in UI 1.0. Here we can customize many functions and services to our likings, such as the text font, the notification panel, or the fingerprint style. We are going to analyze each one of them.

New wallpapers and always-on screen

It is always appreciated that new wallpapers are incorporated by default for the screen of our device and give it a more personal touch. In fact, UI 2.0 has a ton of new backgrounds to choose from. In addition, in them, we can modify the distribution of the number of rows and columns that we want to show on our main screen to store all our applications.

On the other hand, some devices running UI 2.0 will have the option to customize the always-on or better-known screen Always On Display. In this section, you can choose between the different presets or customize yourself to suit your style. You can choose several types of clock, display text, and image or, as we already said, customize it to your liking.

Fingerprint animation

Mobile phones and their functions are constantly evolving, and in this sense, Realme has taken it to the letter. You can also choose the animation you want when you put your finger on the sensor to unlock the phone. Sparkles, fireworks, blurred circles … Although you can also continue with the traditional animation.

New features for your applications

Now you can choose the colors you want to set for the icons of your applications, in addition to their shape (which you can do in the Icon Styles section) or the drawing that represents them and their order (Application Design). This can be applied for groups of applications, as well as separately. Thus, you have a ton of color combinations available, as well as individual colors to make it easier for you to find them. On the other hand, UI 2.0 is also compatible with third-party icon packs, which you can easily find in the Play Store. However, they will not be applied to the system’s own icons and will retain the one that appears by default.

Font display improvements

New customization options have also been added for the fonts of all the texts that appear on our phone, something that we missed compared to the previous version. We can choose between several fonts with very curious names, modify their size, as usual, adapt the font style that we want and its thickness. With the update, all texts are much better.

A renewed notification panel

The facelift that the notification panel has undergone is quite evident. The icons in the status bar have adopted a much more modern and careful look. We can edit the order in which all the functions included in our mobile appear, such as Wi-Fi, mobile data, or Bluetooth, among many others. On the other hand, we can also choose the shape of all the functions and services that appear in it as circles or squares with different formats.

What’s New in Dark Mode

In recent months, this section is being taken into account by all manufacturers, since it represents an improvement for our eyes and to save energy. However, the new Realme menu has decided to go further to offer a more customizable experience. You can choose from three different dark mode shades:

  • Improved, which is basically pure black. Very important to save battery, especially on AMOLED screens.
  • Half, which is steamed between enhanced and mild. Ideal for the last hours of the day.
  • Suave, a gray that we can apply at any time, also intended for those who do not like the completely white screen.

To activate it, you must go to Settings, access the Screen and brightness tab, and within it, you will see Dark mode settings. On the other hand, there is also an option to set the icons and wallpaper to dark mode and force third-party applications to follow the system theme.
